I have a couple of boxes of HDD's. This has worked quite well to transfer data from one drive to the next, and from machine to drive. The design of the dock keeps the drives fairly cool and I didn't have any overheat issues. I have used it with Mac OS X Snow Leopard on a Mac Mini Server, and an iMac, also used it on a Dell Precision with Windows 7.
