This is a great little unit. I think some people tend to expect a full Raid server when they give these items negative reviews. It is what it is - An External Hard Drive with Raid functionality. I have this in a Raid 1 format with two (2) 500GB drives. I copied numerous files to the drive and removed each drive. Both drives had identical data, go figure. The instructions are very limited (poor), however the instructions on the website were actually updated to include the correct positions for the DIP switches. I only tried in Raid 1 format, but for $49, it is what it is and it seems to work. The LED lights are bright, they flash(not pulse) ... No need to set up RAID on your computer, just plug the drive in and start transferring files immediately Ideal
