I have a couple of boxes of HDD's. This has worked quite well to transfer data from one drive to the next, and from machine to drive. The design of the dock keeps the drives fairly cool and I didn't have any overheat issues. I have used it with Mac OS X Snow Leopard on a Mac Mini Server, and an iMac, also used it on a Dell Precision with Windows 7. I bought a few of these external hard drives a few months ago. The transfer rate is very quick. They do not over heat, they stay very cool. They are heavy and sturdy and have ample amount of storage space. I would highly recommend these hard drives. They DO have the most important on/off switch which a lot of hard drives don't these days. They are pre-formatted to NTSF, so they are PC friendly right out of the box. I recommend that you avoid this drive. In clearer terms, DO NOT BUY THIS CADDY!I bought two of these dual drive caddies. One worked, the other one destroyed the data on one of my drives. THAT is totally unacceptable! If I did not back up my data how would I get my data back? This product does not come with a real manual.
